Ok, the body of the Golem is done, I’m probably going to leave him “naked” but will give him a Greek Hoplite Shield and Spear.
Hey all, no picture yet cuz i’m not sure of the contest restrictions, but if you’d like to see my bio-mechanical ship for the EVE online ship contest (made in Zbrush!) click this link: http://xenier.deviantart.com/#/d30lz66
still very much a work in progress, but here are my doors for my environment, all the detailing was done in Zbrush
WIP of a weapons rack for my environent (the forge section)
now that i’ve been cut from the running, here’s my ship design concept for EVE online. I used Zbrush to sculpt the design and paint over it. Despite being sore about not making the cut, I am very disappointed with their choices of semi-finalists also sorry for the compression, it’s a big image.
while still very much a WIP, I’ve made alot of progress on my environment in the last week. As previously mentioned, I’m using Zbrush for almost every single high-poly. Not everything is textured yet unfortunately, and I’ve still got an entire third room to build this weekend (going to be a library/planetarium).

Good use of UDK, did you build most of the static mesh?
Love the work… looks like Oblivion too me.
oh, I probably should have specified, every single asset is custom and built from scratch. Saying it looks like Oblivion makes me very happy thanks!
Highly imaginative, thanks for sharing. I hope for the world’s sake that you’re doing this for a living.
wow, thank you so much for the encouragement. I’m not working in the game industry YET, last year of school then I’m praying I get hired somewhere, so fingers crossed!
Some texturing and Lighting updates, Also, I’ve begun work on the Planetarium, can you guess which screenshot it is??

I love your architecture. And style. What are your reference and inspiration?
Only thing I don’t like is the HDR look it has to it. By default, UDK applies a tone mapper to everything in game, giving it a really “contrasty” look. but that’s just me. i wish they would just disable that darn thing >>
but yeah, awesome stuff here. I’m inspired ^^
Thanks for the encouragement. For this project, I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the Titan zones from World Of Warcraft, Stargate (including spin-offs), Greek and Norse architecture and those cultures Myths (I was thinking Hephaestus and his Bronze men). As for the HDR, part of that is me, I’ve been tweaking the post processing colors, there’s still a lot of tweaking to do with both Post and Lighting so there is a very good chance it will change drastically before the level is “completed”.
After I’ve finished what I currently have planned, I would like to create One more room in which my Dragon Anvil and Magical Hammer are forging the Golems. The Golems would then walk out of an inaccessible hallway and patrol through the level and leave by way of the teleporter pad in the room with the massive crystal. I would also like to add a guide, a robed sage who walks you through the level and explains the story behind it. The Golems I may get to this semester, the guide will probably be my Christmas project as I’m also currently working on an actual game in UDK.
Almost there!!! I’ve only got a few things left to create and texture! and then it’s all tweaking and polishing, oh so much polishing…

hey i jus wanted to say wutup. nice UDK scene- i am also a UDK environment/ zbrush guy and I am also hugely inspired by stargate (watched all of atlantis, now on season 8 of sg-1… ) those shows are the best inspiration for UDK work ive ever seen hehe. keep up the good work, maybe we will work together at a studio someday
konjosworld.wordpress.com
to add to the dorkyness- this scene of yours would be made by the ancients and taken over by anubis that bastard!
@ Konjo yea, I love it when Sci-fi works in mythology to their fiction, and anything with a rich and expansive back story really captivates me.
On a different note from my environment, I took part in the MIGS 2010 D3D Student Zbrush challenge and won! We had three hours to sculpt a character from the waist up. The theme was to create a character from an empire and time period from history, but did not have to be human. I made a Mongolian Giant King!
the following was a three hour sculpt, enjoy!
