x mirror is funky...

Hi Guys,

Just purchased Zbrush, and am attempting to model my first Zbrush body.

My x mirror button is activated but when I get to modeling details like fingers and arm muscles, it only mirrors them faintly if at all on the opposite side. I end up with a barely mirrored thalidamide lump on one side as opposed to my reasonably modeled other.

What’s up?

x symmetry modeling only works when model is symmetrical, other wise turn x off and do one
side at a time.example, facial expressions and asymmetrical poses.next version has other possibilities.

Thanks Gary. I must have made it asymetrical by accident somewhere along the line. I find myself hitting the z axis by mistake sometimes when trying to ctrl z undo.

I love your female body and hands in your gallery. I haven’t yet figured out how to weld seperate models together (ie. hands) any tips?

Also, how can I make hard creases (cleavage) such as a but crack (excuse my language, it’s the easiest way to describe it)? Do I simply keep dividing the mesh in the selected area or is there a quick tool?

My portfolio - no Zbrush stuff yet…

P.S. Is there a way to automatically just mirror one side of a modelled object that is already asymetrical? That would save me a lot of hassle.
