"wrapping a texture"

in marcel’s post “troll”, he explains how he paints a texture in photoshop and then imports it into Zbrush and wraps the texture on the model. how can you get the texture to wrap correctly. is there some way to just merge the 3d model and the texture? or drop the texture right onto the model?
maybe i am just completely missing something, but i would really appreciate some help or explaination. thanx in advance!

p.s. in case it matters, i am using the demo. i know i can’t import anything but i don’t think that is the problem.

I don’t know what Marcel’s method was – maybe his texture was an overall base texture, without details that had to line up in certain places on the object.

To wrap a texture onto an object:

Import the texture using the button on the Texture palette. You might then have to select the new texture to make it the active one.

[If the demo doesn’t let you import textures, you can use the built-in ones just to see how it works.]

After this, any new 3d tool will be created with this active texture.

Or, if the 3d object is still editable (has not been snapshotted into pixols), load the texture and put the object into one of the modes where the Gyro appears – this should change the texture on the object.

For getting certain details to line up in the right places, paint them on the object using the TextureMaster Zscript – it comes with Zscript tutorials and is pretty easy to use.

thank you havran! i think it what i am thinking about will work with texturemaster, but i m not sure, i will try it. but if anyone else knows some other method of doing this, please share. thanks again!

Yep, TextureMaster is the way to go for your needs here. However, with the demo you’re not going to be able to import a texture.
