Workflow

I am an artist that is new to 3d Modeling my apologies if this is an armature question. I am trying to refine my workflow. I have not been able to find many examples of artists creating and entire image (creatures and environment) in zbrush. It appears that most use zbrush to create elements and creatures and then compose them in another program. Is this the typical work flow. Things like composing a large number of elements appears to be a bit tricky in zbrush. I have zbrush and Photoshop, I am creating stills not animations. Is there another must have program? Vue?, Maya(kind of pricey)? thanks

You can get Blender. It’s an excellent 3D app and it’s Open Source (FREE). Lots of training and free tutorials available for it also (Use Google).

Am I correct that most large scenes are composted in other programs or am I missing something?

Its not free like Blender but Modo is cheap (in my opinion) for what it does. I bought it back in October and have used it daily since.

Also you are correct that a lot of scenes are composited in other programs. ZBrush lacks a lot of the rendering capabilities other programs have so people will use other programs to render.

Whats nice is ZBrush has GoZ which lets you easily transport your meshes between programs.

Thanks for the feedback I will be loading demos of the suggested software. If there are any other suggestions ( programs that work well for artwork single scene creation ) I would be happy to check them out.
