Hi my name is Fadi, I’m a creative person hoping to work in characters design or game design, I’m training myself every day in many programs and improving my art skills a lot, but most of the Game jobs required 4 years of work experience in this field, can any one tell me how can I get the work experience in some thing I never worked officially in?
freelance work.
Also, the 4 year thing is to keep away people that aren’t any good. If you’re good enough and create high quality art/design etc you can find a job.
Thank You. I always believed in that, and that’s what I’m working on every morning and night very hard to make it happen.
volunteer for things that require your skills, like open source projects.
Thank you, I will Try that During my search. I live in san Diego CA El Cajon, the game and movie industry are very small here as far as I know here. I have the Idea of moving up to los Angeles and then searching from there because the industry is so much bigger there. do you think it’s its a good Idea? or do you suggest anything else? thank you very much.
Withiut seeing any of your work I cant really recommend one way or the other.
I just started ZBrush and Maya before 6 months ago. my programs skills is bit limited at this time, but very soon I will be able to create more complex objects. Creativity is the best thing ever in my life, no matter where no matter how I will do it to the rest of my life. my passion can create any thing and my brain loves to start from blank piece of paper. I’m trying to find a place where I can start the 3D modeling as a beginning point, and at the same time I’m training myself every day.

here’s some more. I like robots design and characters design.

Well, I can’t tell you to move to LA or not.
But I can say you’re going to need to improve quite a bit before you get your first paying gig though. I mean, I could be wrong and someone might need exactly what you can currently offer them.
If you really want to get into robots and such then I recommend watching some videos on Hard Surface Modeling. I recommend the ones by Grant Warwick. They’re in Max, but the idea is the same for any SDS modeling so it should work for Maya as well. Eh, my 2 cents.
it seems to me it’s a lot like trying to become a professional musician. there are lots of people making a living and having enormous success
who aren’t the most technically proficient or even the most talented. yet on the other hand to be a session musician you really have to know your
stuff and be able to play what’s needed, to understand the material, etc. you have to be really educated and proficient in music. but then you have rock stars
and boy bands and girly singers and all that kind of stuff where people aren’t the best and they don’t need to be, they’re just good enough at what they do.
work at your craft, follow your imagination and let the rest happen. you have enough talent that if it is honestly in your nature to make a living at art,
then it will be.
Thank you for all the suggestion, I really appreciate that. I forgot to mention that I started switching to 3DS Max instead Maya because I think it has more tools made specifically for 3D modeling.
I really appreciate your advice about Grant Warwick I need a lot of this type of tutorials, I’m currently watching a lot about Max and I’m working on Improve my drawing skills at the same time, a lot of information every day and I liked a lot, If you know anything else similar to that or any thing can help me more please let me know. Art to me is not just some thing to make living, it is more like a reason for living. Thank you very much for you help.
I know a lot of people in the local CG college and they all say the same thing when it comes to getting freelance and part-time work: It’s all about the demo reel.
