wooden boat with overlapping plank sides?

As a challenge, I want to try modeling a wooden boat with overlapping planking for the sides (ie Viking). Using only ZBrush, what would be the tools to do this, beginning with the basic hollow banana shaped hull and then the planking outside detail?

Thanks.

edit: in ZB 4

You might use ZSpheres to create the basic shape, then mask off the hull and do an extract. The planking is more difficult but if you can use the edges of the polygons at a low subdivision level that will help. In my example I used the UVs to create a map in Photoshop with a gradiant for each plank, then applied it as a mask in ZBrush using Mask by Intensity. But there will be other and perhaps better ways of doing it.

Thanks. Yeah, getting a precise overlapping profile on a curved hull will be stretching the capabilities of ZBrush. Gonna take a while to figure this out I think.
