hi =BlackNull=,

this is such an amazing work! This edgeflow totally rocks! Did you made most of this in xsi or zbrush? will you animate him, too?
5 stars!

cheers,
xbucket

****ing fantastic.

L’art fantastique mon ami !

(no I don’t speak french, but the work is so good, I figured I would honor the artist in his native laguage  )

A truly top row worthy image, absolutely freeking excellent, you should have this 3D printed…

Damn nice work bro…really impressive.

WOW,

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO MODEL WOLVERINE? i LOVED YOUR VLASSIC CHARACTER ON YOUR WEBSITE. SWEET TEXTURING, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO DO THE VLASSIC CHARACTER BOTH MODELING AND TEXTURING?

THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION, KEEP THEM COMING.

alalalala that’s great 5 stars!

I’ve been sick for a few days so no progress so far, but I wanted to drop a line and say how much I appreciate the warm comments. I hope to get back on it soon and update with some finer wrinkles detail and such. Once again, big thanks to everyone!

DHARMAESTUDIO: I know what you mean, it will be the next step done in zbrush.

Jason Belec: I see what you mean about the claws hehe, I guess technically it wouldn’t work as well, but design wise I kinda dig the big claws.

industripop: actually I didn’t thin out the waist, I guess with his costume refined, it’s giving that impression.

theXbucket: I made all the modeling in xsi and am making the finer detail in zbrush. I don’t have any animation plans, just for a still image maybe.

Obz: hehe, good effort!

Kamakazzi: I think I started to play around with the idea of doing a wolvie around december, then been working on it here and there whenever i found time. For Vlassic, I’ve stuck with it on my free time for so long back then haha

ultimate coolness!!! wow! ps i’d love the to see the base mesh you started with for the body…is that possible? if so THANKS! and btw what other software are you using? not sure if you mentioned it earlier, if you did i missed it…thx again!

looks great! I’d be down for one of these!

Howdy Blacknull, I got a couple questions and comments that other people might want to know also so here goes…

First of all great work. I am truly amazed with the updated wolvie. It’s hard to get a character that everybody loves right, and sir, I think you did it right! I don’t know about those shoulder pads though.

  1. What was the polycount of the original mesh?

  2. What was the size of your texture maps? Head? Body? Arms and Legs?
( what I’m getting at is…How do you decide how large to go for this level of detail? ) 4096 x 4096 pixels or do you go up into inches this is a serious delima for me…please help…

  3. How much ram does your computer have 1 or 2 gigs?

Love the model and especially the concept. Making him older was a great idea and well done.

Your lighting and presentation kicks butt too. Great art.

Cheers,

Craig

WANNA SE A VIDEO TUTORIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!

of the whole modeling…not the zbrush part…

Elden just go to the quicklinks section, look at the zbrush guide (eaitehr 1.5 or 2.0, depends on which version you have) and use your imagination.

BlackNull: I like your Wolverine, it looks like he is across from Batman and Wolverine combined, thats pretty cool :).

Keep up the good work.

Xio first of all EIDAN not Elden…it seems a LOTR name  after that i’m able to use ZB…i’m curious about the whole modeling process he uses to create the mesh NOT IN ZB. :stuck_out_tongue:

Amazing work onthe anatomy and creating your own style, but I feel he’s had one too many donuts…reminds me of a beefed up Mr. Incredible.

wow amazing, just amazing

I like update. A lot. I didn’t even think about the claws until i read what the other poster said. (like comic artists pay any attention to that either) It’s exaggerated/stylized. As cool as those new boot wisps are the first thing I thought when I saw them was they would keep scratching his nuts. Might be a little distracting for him. But I love the modifications. You’ve done some seriously awesome work. Keep it up.

I was totally amazed at the minotaur “like” character at your website. (I forgot his title) Freaking incredible!

Hi guys, lil update with zbrushed details applyed as a normal map+bump in xsi. Hope u like it, just the lower body left to do and the cigar, then…maybe some colors, but not sure…I tested colors and I was losing the feel it had, so I have to play around, maybe just very washed out colors.

Thanks so much for the comments:D

vivien: Only the very fine detail was done in zbrush, the main modeling is done in xsi. So there is no low poly mesh.

MASTERSHOKHAN: 1. the entire character is 41,247 triangles unsmoothed.
2. I create a 4096 x 4096 texture for each seperate object to start, and then decide on the size whether it’s a large surface that requires a bigger map, like the torso, or smaller, like the mask, gloves, face ect…here are my sizes. Torso = 4096, Mask = 2048, Face=2048, glove=2048, shoulder pads=2048. Since it’s a personal project, I can afford having big maps, without being too unreasonable of course.
3. I have 2 Gigs of Ram

Eidan: I’d have to go back in time! i didn’t record it;)

wierdPal: haha, the boots are specially designed to scratch his nuts actually, it’s multifonctional!

 looking better and better :+1:

WOW,that is all I can say.
