Wise Ones - (WIP)

Chokmah: Thanks for the comments. You have some very impressive work in your User Gallery :).

hells angel: Yeah, although I'm pleased with how Wise Three has come along, I just might go back to the drawing board and rework her design. I would like to come up with a more organic way to blend her face, mask and hands. Thanks for the kind words. I greatly admire the emotion and depth of character that you infuse into your work. Captain Sensible: Thanks man, I do appreciate it a lot. From the looks of your Gallery you're already rocking. Disco Stu: The temples I've been using are just place holders. I found them on the interwebs :). When I'm satisfied with Wise Three's design (yeah, like that's going to happen), I'm going to model a few temples myself. Although Wise Three's design/sculpt isn't complete, I couldn't wait to give rendering her in max a try. Here's a first quick render of her -

The eyes look great! Did you make them in 3D or just Photoshop them in?

very interesting, i’m generally not that into creature/ fantasy type stuff, but i really enjoy these, especially the 2nd one. keep it up

Beautiful, Beautiful updates! Those latest renders, man -Deep! Your retopos are pieces of art in their own right :+1: !

Wow I love the first and second characters!!

Yeah don’t worry about where you get your inspiration from.

You example of hammerhead is great because it really shows what inspiration is. A real hammerhead has eyes on the sides of the “hammer”, where the star wars guy has them in the front. He also has the hammer at the top of a vertical face that curves to a horizontal head. So even though inspired by one thing, it’s still a very different thing.

I’ll have to say the one you worked on the most is my least favorite. I get the hands and building thing, but I just don’t feel it works well. I hope you haven’t focused on that one because of comments made on your first two!!

Great work all around regardless of opinions :stuck_out_tongue:

dustinbrown: Thanks! The eyes (eyelashes as well now) were rendered directly in Max. Setting the eyes back from the mask helped make them more dramatic.

YanSan: I know what you mean YanSan, most of the time I'd be content to work on figurative pieces like the ones in your gallery. Your figurative and anatomical sculpts are gorgeous. Thanks for the kind words. Etcher: Thanks man, I'm eagerly awaiting your latest :) Pigumon: Yeah, I almost scrapped Wise III a little while back because I wasn't connecting with her design. But now I'm too fond of her to let her go :). I initially had a completely different concept for Wise III. I might resurrect that one and keep this Wise III as a sort of Wise apprentice :). Next I'm going to go back and revisit Wise I and II. I've got a lot of ideas for how I think Wise I can be improved. Here are some new renders of Wise III -

Cool, I’d love to see it with a sss skin shader. Also reconsider the lighting on the building. White, orange, and yellow are more what one expects to see.

The sculpt came out fantastic! ANd you maintained the hogarth hands! THe renders are looking strong as well.

:+1: ! Lookin’ forward to the updates of the others !

Wow…amazing sculpt! :+1:

Thanks for the feedback guys :).

Here's a first go at giving Wise One a similar look and energy to my initial concept sketch -

beautiful hand sculpt on Wise 3. It made me start sketching on my pad instantly. Not sure about the nose on Wise 1 but the overall model looks great.

Awesome works!

Thanks scottleroc. I’m glad Wise 3 gave you some inspiration. Maybe a new sculpt?

Cool guti. You’ve got some awesome work in your gallery too.

More organic zbrush sculpt of Wise I -

Great update on Wise I, Eric! (man, those retopos… can’t say it enough, pieces of art in their own right…) :+1: .

Thanks for showing some topology love Etcher :). I’m kind of concerned. To my knowledge you haven’t posted new work in a while. So what beautiful creation are you concocting, but not showing us  ?

I'm working on giving Wise One a more natural/organic feel - Looking at these renders made me think that replacing Wise One's current "helmet" with a pattern similar to the one traveling up the front of his neck might produce some more dramatic effects. Critiques and comment are welcomed as always :).

very interesting design. good job!

Cool colors man. Very interesting stuff.

Really love the design of Wise3, looks great and wise1 is shaping up nicely too!! :sunglasses: :+1:
