Wireframe displaying triple lines on Model

Hello everyone. I am new to this community so please forgive me if I am stating a simple question. However, I have used Zbrush a few times in the past and have not come across this problem before. Basically, when I turn on the wireframe on my model, it triples all of the lines for some reason. I am bringing in a low-poly mesh from Maya, and made sure it was clean first and contained only quads (and 8 tris). The mesh looks normal in Maya, but strange when I import it.

Here is an image of it, the triple-lines are hard to see, but they are one on either side of the “true” line, very close together.

Perhaps this is just a smoothing feature for viewing? If anyone knows what the problem is, or if it is simply an option I need to check in the interface to get rid of it, please let me know.

Thank you very much!

It looks like your model’s points aren’t welded. When ZBrush imports a model it automatically creases any unconnected edges so that the edges don’t contract or pull apart when dividing. What you’re seeing in your image is the edge, and then also the crease lines on either side of the edge.

Simply make sure to export your model from Maya with welded edges.

Or you can increase the Tool>Import>Weld slider to have ZBrush weld edges when importing the mesh. You’re better off having Maya do it, though.

Thank you very much for the reply. I imported the OBJ back into Maya to check on the edges, but everything was merged up correctly. However, I am thinking this issue might have arose from switching between working in Zbrush 2 and working in Zbrush 3. For some reason, after I imported the OBJs into Maya and then re-exported (making no changes), the mesh problem disappeared.

Oh well, unexplainable but at least it is working now  Thank you for the suggestion, I wouldn’t have thought to go back into Maya if it weren’t for that.

for some reason all of your edges came in creased.

tool>geometry>“shift+click” uncrease

fixes that right up

Ah! I didn’t know that, and it indeed worked  Thank you very much~ much faster than re-exporting everything.
