WIP-Superheroine (first post, please be nice :-) )

Hi,

I have been watching this forum for some time now, and I’m constantly amazed by the level of support and encouragement people share for each other’s work. The level of work here is also very inspiring! What people are able to get out of a few polygons is jaw dropping.

I’m still relatively (a few months) new to ZBrush, but here’s a model of a superheroine character I’ve always wanted to create. Any and all C&C would be appreciated!

This model is about 2 million polys. Having a few issues getting the displacement right in Maya, and yes, she has no ears! (I’ll be modeling or using dynamics to create her hair, and that will be covering up that part of her head. any suggestions on hair would be greatly appreciated.)

Since this is my first post, I hope the attachments work

…The silver Surfer sister
Welcome and have happy Zbrushing
Ps Feet, boots ? …must maybe refine

Hi Frenchy Pilou,

Thanks for the welcome. No, not the Silver Surfer Sister, but that’s not a bad idea!

This piece is definitely very much a wip. I still have the hands to work on, as well as the entire lower body to finish refining. Once I’m done modeling, I will uv map it and texture it. Thanks again for taking a look at my work!

Mike

is your face supposed to be Angelina Jolie?

No, not really. I’m not going for any one personal look with her face, although I’m influenced by Lynda Carter, Angelina Jolie, and various models with beautiful faces.

Thanks for the question!
Mike

Hey Mike,

Great job so far !

Hm, there’s some things to change, to my opinion, if you want to do a superwoman. Try to find some comic books, and check for yourself : The superpowered women use to be tall, or appear to be so. Their legs are stretched, the ankles are thin, the tights muscular but also not too thick. The area between their legs are usually really distinct, to the opposite of the real women.

The waist is usually too thin, with a bit more muscular presence than everywhere else. As far as I’m concerned, your model’s hands are too bony, they should be more gracile. Same for the neck.

As for the head, it is more man-ish than woman-ish. The jaw should be less present, I think, the area around the nose refined, and try to make the lips a bit lower than they are, to make the nose and the lips more distant.

At last, the clothes : Make them very close to the skin. In fact, you should model your character naked, and then work from that base - unless you have a very specific design in mind. Clothes will come later.

If I should give you two references, it would be Phoenix from the X-Men and Pezzini from Witchblade. I think you can learn a great deal with those two.
Getting some references form real actresses might be a good thing too.

Hope it helps. Good luck to you and keep posting.

Bye !
