WIP Star Wars inspired creature concept, The Frostback

I’ve been a big fan of Star Wars for a long time, and recently I’ve been trying to develop my skills as a 3D artist interpreting existing concepts, so when I saw an illustration of charging, white haired reptilians from The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, I couldn’t help but start exploring what the creatures might look like in 3D… which has also been a bit challenging, considering I had to work off a dynamic action pose only from the front!

To fill in the blanks, I’ve been referencing the anatomy of the show’s Dewback [who I suspect is an in-universe relative to this creature, which I’ve been calling the Frostback], along with the proportions of rhinos, which seem to be the only animal that matches the proportions from the concept. The head of the Frostback is full of serrated teeth, indicating a predatory creature, so I tried to slim the body to emphasize this, while maintaining a level spine, since the creatures are being rode like horses in the original piece of art.

Wanted to get some critiques in regards to the anatomy and proportions before moving in high-detailing and Fibermesh application, in case there’s anything I may have missed.

Life is a journey, you don’t care about the destination, you care about the scenery along the way and the mood of seeing the scenery.

The creatures in the illustration were depicted with a shaggy layer of white hair across their whole body, except the face and feet, so I decided to do a quick test of FiberMesh to get an idea of what it’ll look like. Sufficed to say, this 5 minute test turned out far better than I was expecting, and also means that I won’t have to worry about applying fine details across the whole body, focusing all my attention on the face!
