Constructively, it’s easier to critic an image if you can see the whole thing at once. I am on 1920x1200, a standard for people in our industry.

That’s fantastic work! Glad to see they’re putting feathers on the flying dino’s now - although they’re not technically dinosaurs anymore, (which I think is dumb. There’s Dinosaurs and then there’s flying reptiles and Prehistoric Marine reptiles, all because of a hip bone! Surely it would be easier to change the definition of ‘Dinosaur’ to include Air and Water lizards) I love the way the image on the left sits (I’m sure they’re iterations, but that guy just works well). If I could make a tiny crit, I would’ve liked to see the chest feathers just break the outline of the chest in one or two spots, but there’s probably a reason why you can’t do that, in which case ignore this sentence!
So cool that you’re working for DK! I love their books, so wonderfully graphic. Imagine if school textbooks were made like DK books! Surely kids would learn exponentially more!? Your work suits their style beautifully too. What are they like to work for? Do you get any latitude?

Im lucky to be working along side some of the new breed of leading dino experts and they do keep poking me to do more and more radical interpretations. I just finished up 30 double page spreads for another Dorling kindersley book with some pretty extreem angles and viewpoints. As soon as I get permission I will post images as I would love your comments…they let me play the role of wildlife photographer as i illutrated them.
Oh…and the fluffy winged beastie shown…the fur/plummage is all hand drawn in photoshop. I keep looking into CGI hair but I have the attention span of a fish.

Thats really looking good, and it sounds like a real interesting assignement.
The only thing I could say about improving this last image is that, the sky can give ALOT of dept and feeling, and keeping it blank like this would be a waste,play with it! 
Slice…sort of valid comment aboutb the sky. Its a kids picture book and the editors need areas for text.

I should have the amazon code for the eye to eye book soon. Its sort of aimed at the 4 to 10 year market…Big dramatic pictures with very little text.

Lovely work dude. Have you tried to put your models in a programe like Vue7?
I think they’ll look better with all the dino foliage and landscapes you get with Vue7. You can get it free so why not give it a go???

Really nice work as always, Pete. The colors on these guys are pretty saturated. Did you do this because you know it’s going to print, or was it just a simple matter of making things colorful for kids? Regardless, great work.
I imagine you probably have a pretty nice collection of scale alphas at this point. Is that something you would be willing to share with the community?
I’d also love to see you put a video together on some of your osteoderm and scale creation techniques, if you get the time and have the inclination

Etcher…I have three working days to get each creature done…thats sculpt, detail, pose…get approval…paint render and composit.
