hey g-hand. off to a great start there my friend!
i would agree with nevic on the skin pores…they are a little enlarged. here is a link to some incredible skin textures (a free download)

on the hair and the goatee. there are a number of ways you can go about doing it. the way i prefer to do hair is this.
- select a sphere and make it a polymesh3d (allowing you to sculpt on it)
- go back to your hellboy head, append the sphere, and move it into position where you want his hair to be (you can use the move, scale tools to get it into position) and then the Move brush with x-symmetry on to fine tune the shape to his head
- then simply slupt his hair using either the clay tubes brush with a round alpha (alpha01 is great for this), you can also use the standard brush (i dont like to however, because it is too intense for hair).
- to finish off the hair, you can take the pinch brush and gently pinch along some of the strands to get some extra definition.
the reason i use a seperate sphere for hair is so that you can get it to look like the hair is really growing from underneath the skin, and it also allows you to change the shape etc without deforming the rest of your head. the same technique could be used for the goatee.
here is a link to a really cool site that has some good tips on hair etc
