WIP - Highly Infected Sarah Kerrigan - Need Help!

Hey guys, so I want to make a highly infected form of Sarah Kerrigan from starcraft. So obviously it won’t be exactally the same as Sarah Kerrigan. I based my model off of the SC2 concept art:

but I also used some artistic license :D.

Ok so I have one problem with what I have so far: It’s too busy. There are too many different infections going on at the same time and the model doesn’t have any cohesion to pull it all together. So I was wondering what you guys think I should change and what should I keep? So far I think I should at least keep the huge hole in the side of the face with the spider legs coming out. Everything else is up for grabs. Anyways, here’s what I have so far:

Sorry for the big image -_-

In any case, any help on what I should get rid of and what I should keep would be most helpful.

Thanks a ton guys!

Take care,

JVIikel

EDIT: concept art was WAY too big.

looking good, I love the detail, but I think you should take away the ‘clay things’, or whatever you’d call them, off the right side, the asymmetry would make her look more infected. I don’t watch stargate, so I dunno

Hey thanks for the input! Do you mean the claws coming out of the mouth by chance? I can’t decide whether they help the character or not.

Oh, ps, it’s starcraft

She’s looking good, but I think you need to fix her ears before you do anything else. I don’t know what star craft is, but this is a cool concept. Cheers.

the claw emerging from the cheek really sells this to me… not only is it original, but it opens a lot of potential for expression (imagine a claw gently scratching at her lip if deep in thought, for instance)

I would be careful, though, about the scaled texture on the nose… it seems out of place with the rest of the model

The face from the nose down feels very flat and masculine to me. I would get the base face cleaned up as much as you can. Make it look like her before infection. Then, I would pick a theme for the infection (the zerg basically look like a mix of insect, crustacean, and H.R. Giger love children), and run with it on separate layers and subtools.

you basically have crab legs, a scaly nose, and what looks like a herpes sore to the left of her nose all mixed in with nothing in common. Looking at the original concept it looks like her skin is super dried out and caking. What you have is a good start and the individual details you have look cool, but they don’t really fit together well.

@Josh: ok I’ll fix the ears  They’re a bit not sculpted huh. Thanks for the input.

@salmongod: Thanks man :). I agree there is too much going on with the character, and you’re right the scales should go. I want to only use like 2-3 themes for the character. I wanna keep the legs in the face, I wanna keep the texture under the eye, cause it looks probably the best out of it, i think. I’m not sure whether or not to keep the brow… Hrm… I like the idea of the claw scratching the face – maybe it scratches a puncture into her skin ?

@praetus: Hey thanks for the input man! I’ve had someone else say that as well (about the man face). I’m gonna fix the face, and then work on the details once I have that squared away. thanks for the input.

I was blocking out the hair, and this is the kinda style that I want. The hair will be like insect segments, so it won’t be entirely like this.

Anyways heres two images. One is the base head, so you guys can tell me what I need to change to make it more fem.

The other is the hair blocked in.

thanks for all the help guys!

Heres the blocking of the hair:

the detailing in her face is awesome…i wondering how the hair will come out in the final output…waiting to see themget finished
