WIP and Texturing of Brain Coral - HALP

'ello Zbrush forums!

I have a few questions for you all and I was hoping to get some answers. 8P I’m currently working on a Diploria Strigosa or better known as Brain Coral.

What I did was take a simple texture and make a uv out of it. I then just used that to sculpt this out. The only question is that now that I have this shape and sculpt, I want to make the small ridges that can be seen in Brain Coral.

I would like to somehow imitate those ridges ((http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/149047693_d7f3917687.jpg)) but I have not been able to make a correct alpha brush to draw onto the model or make a normal map in photoshop to apply in Maya separately. It’s probably my lack of skills on modeling/texturing coral, but does anyone have any ideas that I could try, or any input on the model itself? I would love any input or ideas that people can throw at me! Thank you so much! ^ ^

Ack, sorry. I’ve fixed it. ^ ^

You can get that effect if you design a clever brush alpha and turn the Roll feature on.

Well, I know it would but I can’t seem to make a good alpha brush myself. D8> I’m trying to figure out how to make a good alpha brush as well as use the “Roll” feature well. I looked up a few tutorials but with this sort of ridge on it, it’s difficult. Do you have any ideas how I could make the alpha in general? )8
