Welcome to ZbrushCentral buddy:)
Cool start on here, nice work on your character and creature studies! Definently keep at it and study anatomy, that is what I also do hihi:) I am really looking forward to your progress and wishing you all the best!
Cheers and happy brushing,

  • Kenny:)

Love the Human/Alien hybrid from the muchly unappreciated movie. Keep posting! Also did you ever texture the gentleman with the chain mail?

Thanks, I appreciate it, as for the dude with the chainmail, I’ve been having problems, I created the alpha for the chain mail but when I save it out as a tool, when I go back to work on it the chain mail disappears, lol! I don’t know if I’m saving it wrong or what. I actually used Mudbox alot before, so I’m just making the transition to Zbrush, and well I don’t think I’ll go back to Mudbox, hahah! Anyway your work looks really good, definitely inspires me to do more with Zbrush!

Hi Vol,

Like your stuff, very Geiger looking
Keep it up

best,
R

The last time I worked with chain-mail I came up with this design for a test. I don’t know how you are making yours, but if you want I would be more than happy to share how I made mine? I thought it came out pretty well, though it is by no means perfect.

I like how you did the chainmail, it looks like it actually has weight, mine looks lame, lol!!

Well, what I did was get the chainmail alpha from the Downloads of the Zbrush website. I masked off the area that I wanted the chain to be in and used the standard brush on Zadd with the DragRect stroke to slowly pull them into the areas I wanted uniformly. Once that was done, I used Mask by Cavity to mask off the inside parts of the chainmail, inverting it. I used a dark material for the inside, as well as using a dark dark near black color to fill it in. Then I inverted it and used a shiny material for the outside so that it looked like it has more depth than it really has.

Took a few tries but it came out really well! The only trouble I have is that my method of using Dragrect is probably a horrible idea, but I do not know how to spread uniform patterns of an alpha seamlessly. But with a little care, it works out really well!

Thanks I will definitely try this method!
