Will ZBrush every be offically ported to Linux?

Given the fact most in the press are saying Microsoft will most likely phase out the desktop part of the OS fully when Windows 9 comes out and Apple is heading the same direction, will those at ZBrush start early enough to do a full port over to Linux?

I am not bashing either OS, just stating facts that everyone knows and have talked about in the press. The only thing I care about is having a REAL computer, not a dumb-bed down consumer version like most people buy now days. I spend about $8,000 on a new workstation every 2-3 years for my 3D work and it seems like the only true OS that will never change due to it’s user base of IT pros, video and art professionals is Linux. Given that, I just hope Pixologic is actively working on making an official full port for Linux so that is ready by the time Windows 9 comes out in 2014 since they have already said they would love to do away with the desktop features and functions and go full Metro.

If not ZBrush, I would jump to Linux right away.
I hope they will keep supporting windows 7 long enough to have a linux version.
There are some 'Big Boys" for linux like Maya, XSI or Mudbox so why not ZBrush?

Have you tried running it through WINE? Many apps run as fast as or faster through WINE than in native windows environments. If it runs perfectly, there may be no need to port it?

No, “WINE” is not as fast or native and has been mentioned prior in other posts. What we are referring to here is an actual FULL port over to Linux the is officially supported and developed specifically for it. They really need to start on this now because most “consumer” computers now and in the future are not going to have a desktop or at least not as we know it. For developers and professionals, most are looking to Linux as the future since both Apple and Windows are focused now on the mass market crowd.
