If I start saving my zprojects in a location other than the default will it hurt/slow performance or confuse ZBrush in any way.
Are projects completely loaded into memory when open and not dependent on project or tool location?

You can save your projects anywhere you want on your computer, but if you’re thinking about saving them somewhere on a network where you have to read and write to a server or an external drive, I’m thinking you might experience longer wait times when opening and saving.

Also, it’s never a good idea to save your project files in the program directory of any program. You should always save them to a folder outside the main program directory. If something were to happen and you had to uninstall the program, there’s a good chance you would lose everything saved in that directory.
