why drop the save feature of subtool master ?

why drop the save feature of subtool master in r3 ? as it was it was the only method to have zbrush overwrite the current file within a workflow consistent with 99% of apps you’re likely to use. EVER

please. stop calling your app INTUITIVE and WORKFLOW FOCUSED when ridiculously simple and common tasks like saving become a needless 3 step process

In 3.5 R3 it is not needed. When saving a tool, it will always save it under the name of the first subtool.

please. stop calling your app INTUITIVE and WORKFLOW FOCUSED when ridiculously simple and common tasks like saving become a needless 3 step process

We call it INTUITIVE and WORKFLOW FOCUSED,because we believe it is.

sorry. you might’ve misunderstood. let’s say for a minute i’m working in another app. near ANY other app. if i hit save it will save the current state overwriting the previous. when subtool master was introduced it allowed for this standard behaviour. as it is now if i save from the tool palette ( step 1 ) i’ll enter a windows dialog. Save ZTool. and hit save ( step 2 ). then i’ll be prompted with the alert asking if i want to save over this file ( step 3 ). that’s 3 steps. 3. EVERY time i save. please. if there is another way to save the current tool let me know. and i will gladly apologise for my ignorance

with that example above. and MANY others that i could cite i would claim zb to be very much NOT workflow focused. i base this on the somewhat objective evaluation that the LESS steps taken to achieve a certain goal the better

if ones example of an intuitive workflow is counting needless steps and conceivably redundant tasks then i guess we’ll have to agree to disagree

seriously. Support. is there another way to save the current tool ?

Yes, It is possible to write a very short script that will do that.

By the way inverse catheter (or do you prefer ‘tecit math’ ? ), I am sure you know that ‘You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar’. Posting "i can’t believe those mother****ers have the audacity to use the phrase ’ workflow friendly way’ ", will not get you far.

ha ha. well played Support. well played. in all honesty thank you for your reply and if such a script could be made available myself, and i’m sure the whole community, would be very grateful

.

far as responding to your second comment. yeah. ’ flies with honey '. i do agree. fair call. but with as much smoke as gets blown up pixologic’s proverbial a_s with these updates it certainly seems that no honest critiques make their way in

you do the high level stuff so well. such sweet new tools and functionalities and i applaud you for it. consistently though you fail miserably at the low level aspects where WORKFLOWs actually exist. all these awesome tools you add ( more and more ) really lose their sheen in the frustration of still having to wade through needless clicks. steps. and processes to access them. i fear for the release of v4 and the gap between the high and low level aspects ever increasing because i honestly don’t think you have your eye on that stuff. i don’t say that to be acid or rag you out. but there’s some undeniable objective truth to the assessment : less steps and processes _ good. more / redundant steps and processes _ bad ( unless you’re some kind of workflow masochist )

can you honestly claim that with each and evey release you have attempted to cull the chaff ? ( the evidence is firmly against it since. for example : far as i can tell in this release i still cannot do something as simple as selectively remove unwanted tools from the palette )

in any case. i thank you again for your time and reply. and any help you can offer ( in the form of that script ) will be well received

That is much better. I can now read your post, without losing the motivation to help long before reaching the end of the post.

Right now, we are busy with the latest ZBrush release. Next week, I will ask Marcus to create a ‘quick save’ script. I’ll post it here when it is ready.

Meanwhile, drive safely, have a happy holidays, and if possible, enjoyable ZBrushing.

cheers Support. you too

any chance of getting that script ?

still any chance of getting that script ?
