Why doesn't remesh smooth out my shape?

I’m following a tutorial and have done exactly what he does, using the exact same file as he has, but I still don’t get the same result as him.

What I did was make the “before” shape. Then I went to Remesh under Subtool and turned off symmetry and inserted 64 as Res and 20 as polish and checked off the circle and pressed ReMesh All. That left me with the result “After”. I’ve tried every setting under remesh and nothing has given me a smooth result as his:

You might not get an identical result to the tutorial if it was made on an outdated version of zbrush (which I’m guessing it will be if it’s about Remesh All; Dynamesh and Livebooleans are both newer and more superior options for doing what Remesh did).

Do you have a link to the tutorial so we can see what it is trying to do? Chances are it wont matter that the shape isn’t similar at this particular stage since the whole point of Remesh All was to spit out an ugly blob that envelopes the original mesh so that you could then follow up with a Project All operation to have it ultimately match the original shapes (with or without booleans being thrown in). If the tutorial was just using it as some weird method to create an extremely soft cylinder then there are better ways to go about creating such a shape which will leave you with far more control.

He uses Remesh so that he can increase subdivisions without just getting more triangles on top of the shape. So that he can make a terrain on top.
But ya it’s an old tutorial and that’s more than likely why I don’t get the same result.
You say Dynamesh and Livebooleans are both superior so I’ll just use those.
Thank you so much for your answer!
