Why does Zbrush occasionally do this

and how can I work around it? Sometimes when working with subtools, I will go to move one, and this happens:

Why.jpg

see how part of the tool seems to be stuck? It’s not masked, I’ve checked and double checked and the rock is a new subtool that I just created, and it’s doing exactly the same thing when I try to move it. I have restarted Zbrush just incase it was a problem from being left on overnight, but it’s still doing it  Any help would be appreciated. I can move the subtool using the deformation menu, but any use of the handles to move stuff around does this weird thing so I can’t pose my sculpture properly.

[edit - I have worked around this by scaling the tools down quite a lot using the deformation tools, but I’d still like to know why this happens if anyone knows, will save me headaches in the future  /edit]

It is exactly what you did to fix the object on a whole. The scale was either grossly too large, or grossly too small.

Scale is very important in Sculpting apps. The same goes for Mudbox. If the scale is way off then brushes don’t work correctly…same goes for the transpose tools.

Ah I figured that might be the case. Is there any way I can tell the dimensions? Any kind of ruler I can work to?

nope. :frowning:

The unify deformer is the only way to get the best Scale for Zbrush to work with that I know of.

Cool, thanks goast, I appreciate your help
