The other dot is off the model and it wont allow me to sculpt symmetrically, turning on posable symmetry does not help this. How can I fix it?
Sorry, didn’t realize the image link was broken.
My guess is that you moved the model away from 0,0,0. Look in the geometry palette towards the bottom.
I went to deformation and hit Unify, this fixed the problem.
If it happens again, check to see if L.Sym is turned on.
asymmetry can happen for a number of reasons like moving the object off it’s pivot point or sculpting it asymmetrically to begin with. there are a number of ways to deal with it depending on the circumstances.
you can try turning on “local symmetry” right above the move tools.
you can use “offset” in the deformation palette to nudge the object back to it’s pivot point.
you can turn on “set pivot point”.
you can mirror and weld on the relevant axis. if the design allows.
you can mask off the area where you need symmetry and make the rest of the object invisible.
example. you need to make symmetrical nostrils on a nose that is off center on the head.
mask off the nose, make the head invisible. then symmetry will work properly on the visible nose.
there are several other things as well. like in your case unify worked because it rescaled and repositioned the object.
the best solution is on a case by case basis.
