why cant i subdivide?

Hey guys and girls, i have come to a problem i cant subdivide anymore, i tried to raise the max poly per mesh but it still says that i will exceed my max poly per mesh. i tried to restart i tried to push in compact now but nothing works:(…can someone please tell me whats wrong? kind regards

/Isak

at wich level are you now?

and how many polys do you have?

can you go in hd ?

hey boeba i am just under 4 miljons 3.93 miljons i know it aint much differens but i wanted to reach 4 miljons and it just bothered me=)

hey isaac, go under preferences / mem and check your MaxPolyPerMesh. maybe you have to increase it, but be careful, if you subdivide your 3.93M tool again you will reach at least 15~million polygons… be sure your PC can handle this amount of polygons!
You have to increase your MaxPolyPerMesh for that to a min. of 16million.
To save the settings go to preferences / config - store config

hey train22=)

i just forgot that it just dividing in 2 but in 4:P i just raised to 10 miljons=)

i will trie to raise to that insane level soon (funt to test my new computer to^^)

Isaac,

if you can, you would do well to split your model into logical parts and make each of these a subtool. These each may then be subdivided to the MaxPolyPerMesh level. You’ll then have much more responsive, easily editable meshes; bits you’re not working on can be hidden, freeing up memory.

it is just a skull so i dont think it is much parts in it=)…but i have a problem that then i trie to symetrize i dont really get it in the middle, i use image planes do you think it is that the pictures aint really symetrized or am i doing anything wrong:)?

take care=)

You have to be very sure your base mesh is symmetrical to start with. If you use a 3D package to build it then that is where you should have sorted this out. Rather tough, now that you’ve got up to 10 million polys!

Best of luck,
