Why Can't I polypaint on a mesh sometimes.

Sometimes it seems zbrush doesn’t want to let me polypaint on my mesh when I think it should.

For example I have a mesh with subdivision levels on which I transfered polypaint from another mesh. I see the polypaint on it (texture is off and polypaint colorize is on, masks are off and spotlight is off too) but I can’t modify the polypaint by using the standrd brush with RBG on, I pick a color and painting has no effect.

What I need to do then is to click on makepolymesh3d, and then I can polypaint on the newly created polymehs but I have to reconstruct the subdivion levels.

I would like to know why a mesh would stop accepting polypaint?

I think would be easier to respond this question providing a 3d model with the problem.

I think this might be a bug.

I saw this when I created a dynamesh, and used Project all from a model with polypaint from a texture.

The dynamesh had the correct polypaint, but I could not paint on it.

I fixed it by choosing “texture off” in the texture palette. Even though the dynamesh had no UVs, it was showing the texture map from the original model in the texture map palette… and the texture was OFF.

As soon as I set the texture to none, I was able to polypaint.

Thanks thor! You got it!

It’s a bug. To make it clear, the “texture On” button was deactivated (so should be off) but the texture was selected in the slot. CLicking the texture and choosing “texture off” solved the problem. Now I can paint on my projected texture in polypaint.

Is there any offcial way to report a bug in zbrush?

Ok I found it , I submitted a ticket here: https://support.pixologic.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit/
