Why can´t I divide? Subdivide issue

Hi.
I recently started using Zbrush.
I made a mannequin pose, I gave it volume, but now I cant divide it.
The subdivision tool is unabled.

I have been using Dynamesh, but I´m not sure what have I done.
What can I do to solve it?

Hi there Pablo.

I think the button you are looking for is the “Dividir”. The SDiv is off because this is the slider for you to walk through your subdivision. The hotkey for “Dividir” or Divide in English, is Ctrl+D.

A good way to walk through the subdivisions is to use “Shift+D” to go lower and “D” to go higher. Be careful not to press “D” without subdivisions levels, otherwise it will create a Dynamic Subdiv, that’s only a preview and doesn’t really give you geometry to sculpt on.

Since you say that you are starting to use ZBrush, maybe this little tip will help you:
Once you’ve done a mesh using DynaMesh and you are happy with what you created, a good idea would be to duplicate the SubTool, ZRemesh it with a lower polycount. Next, subdivide it, until you get closer to the original SubTool polycount that you created using DynaMesh, then press “ProyectTodo” button, to project all the details from the original mesh into the new one. Remember, to make “ProyectTodo” available, you need to have two Subtools visible.

Once this is done, you will have a mesh with all the details that you created but with the difference that you can go to a lower subdiv to make macro changes and even subdivide more to make small details.

I hope this helps you.:sunglasses:
