Who best for 3d Printing - Rapid Prototyping ?

Hey guys,

I’ve been looking to getting this done locally but there isn’t anyone experienced with it in Australia unless someone can name one ?
The company I’ve been trying to get stuff printed from have been having problems with poly-count I’m exporting to .OBJ, they’re having problems loading 1.6mil polys into their computer.

If not, does anyone know of any really good 3D printing companies that know how to print 3D characters and not just CAD work ?

I’m not too shabby  ~ www.ownage.com

but you also have offloadstudios, maybe crystalline. i dunno~ in the startup world, you also have shapeways as a choice.. but they're based in Europe. for zcorp, you could do 3darttopart or fabjectory.. they're cheaper than offload. for traditional 3d service bureaus in the USA.. you have redeye rpm, fineline, quickparts, forecast3d.. amongst the thousands to choose from.

edit some more: www.xpress3d.com, extensive list of worldwide service bureaus (http://home.utah.edu/~asn8200/rapid.html)

I keep a production diary on ZBC here under "3d prints cheap+good" [http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=65634&page=3](http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=65634&page=3) i run USD$279 for unpainted primered models. USD$299 for color models~ I only do action figure stuff~ Where in oz are you? I went gradschool melbourne~ heh but im undergrad across the pond UC Berkeley. edit: doh.. but I'm not in ozzie.. is that okay? lets say im like 8 hrs away by plane? in the same time zone i wrote a custom backend for my printing stuff so i have no limit for polys~ objet has a 250meg limit if you use object studio.

I’m still writing the code to accept OBJs. but you can be a ninja and start an order (which is free) with an zsphere.ztl and add your max/obj/maya stuff as an attachment =P I won’t tell

haha thats cool.
I’m currently in Brisbane working at Pandemic studios

Would we be able chat further over msn ?
With current exchange rate it hurts my pocket to buy anything in USD. I be looking into getting continuous flow of work printed. If we can work something out i definitely be keen to keep you on hand for prints

Hehe no probs~ yah i know. Back in 02… 03… i think it was almost 2:1 USD to aussie dollar. Then it jumped as high as like .8 USD to $1 aus. Oh man oh man where has the USD price gone. I wonder what we’re at now~ But yah, lets chat over email/im~ im flexible~

Rapid prototyping is the automatic construction of physical objects using solid freeform fabrication. The first techniques for rapid prototyping became available in the late 1980s and were used to produce models and prototype parts. Today, they are used for a much wider range of applications and are even used to manufacture production quality parts in relatively small numbers. Some sculptors use the technology to produce complex shapes for fine arts exhibitions.
