fixed his hands and feat

Hey Simon,

Nice work! His hands are coming along very good. I would add a bit more detail to the knuckle areas so you can see some bony marks. He is old after all!

For the feet, I would scale down that last small toe (pinky toe) and I think there should be a bit of a curve that slopes around to the big toe rather than straight across.

Hope that helps!

This was never supposed to be a final image or anything. I was in the middle of sculpting a ‘realistic head’ but I kept having anatomy problems that were doing my head in so I switched off my brain and a couple of hours later this appeared.

It would probably have come out alot better if I had actually decided on doing something in particular rather than just doodleing on autopilot but something interesting came out anyway <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

Try placing your wrist at the height of your chin, hand facibng upwards and observe up to where the fingertips come. That should give you an idea of how long hand are. The ones on your elderly gentle (man?) are larger than his(?) head. Some parts of the body do grow when old age begins, like ears and nose, but normally hands don’t.
The “normal” proportions of a hand are about 3/4 of a head, the fingers from the knuckles taking 1/2 head. The hand has the same length as the sternum (breastbone) and the scapula (shoulder)blade.

Thius is not meant as a critique, only as a theoretical remark that you can forget about if you want as artistic freedom is more important than theories. I really enjoy looking at your work.

Thanks Erik

I have all these kind of proportions memorized but I simply cant access them while I am working as that part of my brain turns off. I guess doing things correctly enough times means you dont have to as they stop being in your language centre and become more instinctual.

Trying to get him to look like clay

WIP – eye looks crappy need to work on it more.

I particularly like the last one Simon. It’s a good start for sure! I would work on the lip volumes and work out the eye issues (remove that cut-in above the eye). Then I’d soften up the strokes throughout the face to give a nice feminine look.

Keep up the good work bud!

Thanks Jesse

Need to try and start working on something for more than a day. Its a bad habbit I have.

I hope to have another lesson with ya soon, only got negative 70 quid in my account at the moment though! hehe

Good job

Your post #69 (last one) has a great feel (I agree some minor things to be resolved). One of my favorites that I’ve seen here. Joe

Hows she looking now?

Loads of things still bothereing me. Prob need to take another pass next weekend.

You got the clay look down with that last render, looks great.

Your overall form and expression on the last bust is also nice. It would be great to see it pushed further, more refined, but maybe that’s not your goal.

tobbeo: I agree definitly needs alot of extra refinment. Not calling her finnished yet

I like the render too…like it rough and suggestive rather than well defined, although I struggle a bit with the open dark cavity between the lips and the realistic eyes. Would love to see it as a 100% clay/stone model.
