Which folders to back up to save my custom pallets and UI

I want to make sure I have a back up of my custom pallets and UI.

Is this all in the Start up folder? Which folders should I be saving?

I see there is a Start up folder within the Windows Public Documents and one also in the Program Data > Pixologic folder, what is the difference between these and which would I want to back up?

Thanks

You can save a custom configuration by pressing Preferences>Config>Save Ui and saving the file to a location of your choice. You could then load it back in using the Preferences>Config>Load Ui button.

There’s no need to save any folders if all you want is the configuration (though you might want to save your hotkeys if you have custom hotkeys - use the Preferences>Hotkeys>Save button).

ZBrush writes temporary data to the ZBrushData folder in the Windows Public Documents folder. That includes the custom configuration file and hotkeys file but saving them as I suggest above is the simplest way of creating a backup.

Marcus I was referring to a situation where one had a complete computer crash and you lost all your files and folders and had to reinstall Zbrush completely. I just want to make sure I have backups of my custom pallets and such.

Thanks

Those two files are all that you’d need, apart from any personal projects and so on of course. ZBrush creates the whole of the folders and files in the Public Documents/ZBrushData automatically.

Thank you Marcus
