where to start

Hola

Im new…and yet…
7-8 years ago i did a lot of lightwave and xsi. zbrush was in alpha i think, but looked exciting.
I got married, kids. skipped the modeling job etc etc…

come 8 years later…Im back…
But realise that the world didnt stop turning when i did. bummer.
bought Lw and Maya, what a learning curve. the menus are not where they used to be
And wtf are polygons

As it is Im back to being newbie I guess.
When i watch a tutorial, i have to watch step 1-5 and then i remenber. but then again, at step 14 i forget… you know.

Now I´ve bought zbrush, as it has alway intrigued me. the clay modeling looked intuitive.
But im lost.

I´d really like to pick up Lw again, as that where i feel at home. I know i do after some lessons.
But I´d like to pick up Z too.

What is you reccommodations ?
Totally new to Zbrusg. Fiddled some with Sculptris with decent results.

Yet it sucks to have been able to ride that bicycle and realize that youre all riding ferraris.

Any suggestions…much appreciated

Well, the spiderbot tutorial on the follwing website helped me get started with Zb in terms of some of the core features and especially a workflow. It’s a good website.

Obviously there’t the Zbrush Getting Started Guide and the Zclassrom stuff on the Pixologic web site as well.

Hope that helps
Steve

Thanks a lot. Ill look into that one.
Ohhh im in such a dilemma, Love the straight forwardness of sculptris and Z but miss the details found in maya and Lw.
Guess one package doesnt stand alone but as a “beginner” its just overwhelming.
Patience is a virtue but when you used to do good, patience is lacking.

time for a reality check i guess

Don’t forget to tweak your UI to enhance your workflow. The other apps you’ve used have nifty built in view change buttons. There’s a script for that here.
My UI> here.

excellent.
Im still where im struggling just to understand Zb.
to me its a very uncommon way to do 3d.

workflow is still not an issue - hope it will be soon though

Thanks for all your helpfulness guys
