Where have the buttons gone in the UI of new versions?

I just bought zBrush + love it! Have been going through the new Gnomeworkshop turtorial - really good. Highly recommended.

I am going crazy though, it appears as if there is a little button called “frame” just above the “transp” one that turns on coloring for polygroups.

I haven’t got that button and have spent like a day trying to find out how to get polygroups coloring.

Its a noob question, I know…but…

Help!

hi can tell many things about poly painting:):):)let’s do a chat contact me - [email protected]:):)

I don’t think jontyh is talking about PolyPainting…

You’re probably watching an older tutorial that uses an older version of ZB where some of the buttons look different. Polyframe used to be called Frame… And the icon has changed also… hence your confusion.

To turn on the coloured polygroups you need to make sure you have the 'Quick 3D edit' button turned on. This enables another button called 'Draw Polyframe'. If you turn that on your model/ZTool will be displayed with coloured/shaded Polygroups with wireframes thrown in for kicks (provided you have a ZTool with various Polygroups set ofcourse). All these buttons can be found under the Transform pulldown menu if you cannot find them displayed in the main GUI (there are many different GUI layouts, so yours could very well not have it displayed). Furthermore, you have some control over the look and feel of Polyframes, such as how saturated you want to colours, or if you want wireframes anti-aliased or not. You can find the settings for that under Preferences-->Draw.

Thanks Lone Deranger. That has sorted me out!

On the subject of missing buttons in the newer versions. Here’s another one that has  me.

To work with some high poly obj files I have, I am using a great document from zBrushCentral called:
“Importing Topology From Outside of ZBrush” by Dave Harrington

It is all really clear until Step 15:
“Press Tool>Rigging>Projection to project the high-resolution detail onto the new topology.”

Unfortunately, Rigging no longer appears to have a Projection button! Any ideas where this one has gone?

It’s now in the Tool>Projection menu. This let us give it several options that would otherwise have cluttered the Tool>Rigging menu.
