When and at what point to use HD Geo

hey guys,

i’ve battled this with my gorilla sculpt before but find myself in similar territory with this creature sculpt.

see images attached. so i made my base forms with Dyna mesh at 128 resolution. Slowly bring it up to 400 and then doing a Zremesh with guides and polypaint for density.

i’ve currently got 4 Sub division levels on the zremeshed subtool. at the highest level it is 2.2 mil polys but i still see “faceting” in the Geo until i enable HD Geo bringing the subtool to 4 mil polys.

is this the proper and best practices method to continue ?

would i finally when ready to finalize this guys, duplicate tool, zremesh again and project the details for a faster keyshot or c4d 3d app workflow ?

faceting isn’t an issue really. Zbrush doesn’t have a way to display averaged normals when you’re working. In any other application or during renders in Zbrush you won’t see those issues. I have used HDGeo a total of two times. Once to see how it worked, the other to see how it was updated. That’s it.
