what's the workflow for getting all details in ?

I got a character and I made 4k maps for its disp and normal and cavity mask. I couldn’t get small pores from the face with normal map and displacement so cavity helped but… The character is muscular and got many veins so cavity mask is making the veins very sharp. Is there any good workflow for getting details good? I can see all over the place characters rendered with tiny pores etc but I can’t wrap my head around it somehow. Is it 32bit dispalcement (but I have problems generating it for my 4k!) There are some tricks for creating cavity map correctly to get the details right? Or it’s all about fixing cavity map in ps ? But it can be pain if you have veins and pores on top of it.
