What's the "drill" with the preview canvas?

I’d like to know what happens when my model doesn’t fit in the canvas in the tool menu —> preview

why is this an issue?

If my model is made up by multiple subtools do i have to merge them all, reduce the size then split them apart again?

It matters because size matters. If you perform a deformation say…of 10…what is 10? 10mm, 10cm, 10ft? Zbrush likes prefers a size that works best with Zbrush. The same goes for Mudbox. The same applies to the brushes you are using as well. What is a gravity setting of 10? Do you see where this is going?

Anyway, if you have a tool with a bunch of subtools that all need to be changed in size simply hitting unify will mess them all up in relation to one another.

To fix this use transpose master. click the left button, wait for the new mesh. Apply a unify deformation, then hit the right button (I don’t remember the names off hand…but there are only 2 buttons). It will make all of your tools into one, change the size, then split them all for you. So it’s doing the same thing you would do by hand, but making it 3 button clicks instead of 500.

Hope that helps

actually i was thinking about merging them with subtool master and unchecking the preserve existing polygroups checkbox, then splitting them up later.

what i wanted to know is what’s the common procedure for this task. and i think i get the size problem. for ex. even maya is unconfortable with huge scene sizes.

thanks anyway.
