What's the deal with shoes in ZBrush?

I’ve seen some AMAZING sculpts on this forum (and elsewhere), but when I look down at the shoes, they ALWAYS look out of place/not right. What’s up with that? Why does the phenomenon occur? Is it not possible to do shoes that look right in ZBrush? Surely, I am not the only one to notice this. I’m a HUGE noob, but this has always bothered me about people’s shoe sculpts. I’m just curious what the deal is…

Thanks - Mike

Not sure what you mean, I’ve seen a lot of great shoes/boots on some people’s characters.

If anything, it is the sculptor not the software that is responsible for how something looks.

Known bug that causes Zbrush to crash and format your hard drive when awesome sauce drips on bodacious kicks.

Because of this, I’m certain none of the amazing artists who spend hours intricately detailing fabulous footwear are dismayed that you don’t like their work, and I’m also sure that they would surely not want to hear your ideas on how to make them better. Because, after all, Zbrush must have crashed and eradicated their enviable espardilles, forcing them to compose crummy clogs.

…How did you come to this conclusion?
Doesn’t even make sense…

hahahah

…second…

I wasn’t trying to criticize anybody. I was merely attempting to find out if others saw this as well or if it maybe had something to do with whatever view was chosen for renders. I see amazing work on here (and I don’t really do much of anything in ZBrush beyond tinker - so on that basis, maybe I don’t deserve to make observations or comments), but it just seems like something is just not right with most of the footwear that I have seen. Sculpted feet look normal, but shoes just look “odd” to me. I am not talking about the detailing - THAT work is usually amazing - but something else about them look odd. So, rather than criticize ME or make sarcastic comments, how about just commenting maturely and say whether you’ve noticed this or not. I am not that experienced with this stuff and am curious (from a learning stand point) - NOT from an accusatory/criticizing stand point.

Good night - Mike

Still don’t make a lot of sense Mike, do you have any examples?

oops mispost sorry

I guess my question is just going to have to go unanswered. There’s no way that I am going to post examples here and risk offending anyone specifically. I guess I will just pose this to a couple of Twitter/Facebook friends. I think they will be a little more open/understand where I am coming from. I realize that people can get pretty sensitive when it comes to somebody like me (noob and unknown on this forum) critiquing their work. Whether I am a ZBrush/sculpt master or not, I still appreciate people’s work just as much - and still have things that I think just don’t look right. So, to avoid offending anybody specifically, I think I am done with this topic here because I feel that it will only result in a flame war and people getting their feelings hurt - which was not my intention in the first place. I wish people’s first reaction to things wasn’t to assume malice is intended with stuff like this (which is why I was attempting to keep this generic).
