what to deactivate and uninstall (3.1, 3.5, 3.5r2, 3.5r3)

hi,

so i got my download of 3.5r3 and i’m all ready to go and the readme says that i should deactivate the license for 3.1 and all other licenses but upon review, i still have tools and plugins that work for 3.1 that will not for 3.5 (official AND unofficial plugins).

MUST i deactivate 3.1?

for those of us who are interested in the least disruption:

what is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY vs. what is not?

so:

3.1 deactivate? uninstall?
3.5 deactivate? uninstall?
3.5r2 deactivate? uninstall?

i have not attempted to install 3.5r3 and i currently have 3.1 and 3.5r2 installed.

thanks.

You may want to deactivate at least 2 of the 3 that you have and try activating 3.5R3. If you run out of activations then you can deactivate an older version and activate a newer one.

ah cool.

so when i run the installer it says that i need only de-activate 3.5…

so i guess, 3.1 is considered in a part of a different cycle for the time being and so 3.1 can peacefully co-exist with 3.5r3 but any other product in the 3.5cycle should be de-activated.

so for me:

3.1 and 3.5r3 are installed and activated and working well.

thanks pix!

3.1 does not affect 3.5. They are different serial numbers and licensing systems. So they can coexist on your computer.

However, now that the plugins have been released for 3.5, we are discontinuing support for 3.1. If something happens that disables your copy of 3.1 it will not be possible to get it running again.

I just purchased Z-Brush 3.5, when I get the digital download link what all do I need to install to get updated to R3.

I am assuming I need to install 3.5, but then do I have to install R2 and R3 or do I just install R3?
does R3 contain everything from R2 plus the new stuff?

Thanks,

Your download will be for R3. It’s a standalone version, and so you won’t need to worry about the previous releases of 3.5.

awesome!, thanks aurick!

I was trying to find this elsewhere but couldn’t find anything about it being stand alone.

Now I just wait anxiously for the download link

If something happens that disables your copy of 3.1 it will not be possible to get it running again.

Ouch! I wish I’d known that before upgrading to Win 7! Does that mean I can’t run 3.1 ever again?
