What is the max threshhold TotalActive points and Active points.......

What is the max threshhold TotalActive points and Active points do you guys work with before you notice any lag when scultping. I have a 4gb ram and ive set the mem option to 4096 but for some reason when i go beyond 1.245mil active points i notice a considerable lag when i sculpt.

I am just wondering if this is the case for you guys as well. are we limited to 1.572 mil points before we notice any lag in sculpting or do you guys have tweaks and fix for this.

Sculpting lag has to do with CPU rather than RAM.

RAM controls how many polygons your model can get to. This value is tempered, though, by how many background apps you might be running, how many undos you have set in the Preferences, and how many layers your SubTools might have.

CPU controls how smoothly you can sculpt on the model. So if you’re seeing a performance hit, that is CPU rather than RAM related. You can overcome this shortcoming by hiding polygons that you’re not currently working with. For example, if you are working on a face you can hide the rest of the head so that it doesn’t impact performance.
