Hi,
Here is an image I am working on, I find it hard to get volume and then sharp lines in my models, they all tend to look bubbly and soft. I use dstand, and clay tubes mainly.
Any help would be great,

How do people go about creating custom brushes, not the alphas but how the actual brush functions?

The pinch brush will sharpen lines up, I find. (try Zadd and Zsub for alternate effect). You can also alter the nature of a brush using the settings under the Brush menu (curves etc) Im sure there would be tutorials for this out there. Good luck!
