What Are Your Favorite Brushes?

While attending the ZB UGM at Gnomon last night, I was very interested that all 3 artists who presented tend to favor a lot of the same brushes for sculpting. This got me wondering what others out there like to use.

So everyone, what are your top 5 most used brushes for organic (non-hard surface) sculpting besides MOVE, STANDARD and SMOOTH?

I also like dam standard.

That’s one…what are your other 4 favs Gareee?

What brushes were the favorites of the artists you mentioned in your first post?

Honestly, I don’t use many of the other brushes at all… I’m mostly modelling in zbrush, so standard, move, snakehook, and dam standard are my go to brushes.

Favorite brushes is a funny question. its like walking up to a mechanic and asking him to pick out his favorite tool. he is going to ask you for doing what? We have so many brushes available, for so many things. We like them all. I also like all the 3rd party brushes i can find.

for Organic, I like move, move elastic, and move Topo. I love using dynamesh as well. I also like the insert mesh brushes, like the sphere, it helps with quickly adding a glob of clay.

The ones that they all seemed to like were Clay_Tubes (or Clay_Buildup for one guy) Dam_Standard, hPolish & Rake. One of the presenters also tended to use some of the smooth variants like directional and valance.

oh ya, I guess I use Clay tubes and buildup often as well. I also like using insert Sphere, to block in rounder portions of an organic mesh.

Clay, clay buildup, dam standard & magnify.
