Welding / Joining mesh

Hi Guys,

I am trying to create a lip on this skirt. My method is to Extract the masked Geometry below:

Then I delete the back side and one edge of the extracted piece leaving this:

The lip part and the main skirt are not joined so I tried welding it with WeldDist at 1, but as you can see it doesn’t get all the points.

Could someone please suggest a method for joining the meshes together?

Extract has the option smooth by default at level 5. This can change the alignment of the verts depending of the topology. It would be safer to switch off this feature before to extract to avoid movement of the verts and then later to do polish by features that would achieve the same smooth effect. This would allow an exact match between the positions of the verts. Also to avoid the creation of thin border hat can change also the vert distribution (tbor).

Taking another look extract smooths even the smooth is 0, but the equivalent in deformation is polish by feaures level 1 with dot (no circle). This will match exactly that extract does in the edge in the host mesh. Simply apply that deformation to the host mesh edge to have a match.

Anyway I’m sure there are other ways to achieve the effect.
