I was wondering if there is any function in ZBrush that would allow me to weld high resolution surfaces together. Say I have 3 slabs of high resolution meshes in OBJ format and I want to weld them together into one solid, welded mesh. Would that be possible someway? Can anyone think of software that would do this for me if it couldn’t be done in ZBrush?
Such is very easy to do with Voxels inside 3DCoat - just drag stuff into each other - it melts together like clay. The direct output can also get hollowed out -good for direct 3D-Printing. If you need proper Topology you’ll have to Retopo though.
Here’s a video tutorial for zbrush wielding. You may want to adjust the slider if it doesn’t work out naturally. You may want to use the move brush at 100% opacity to move the verts closer together before export. (Close up the gaps so zbrush will know which verts need wielded.)
