I got a new trick for editing the topolgy on my morph difference meshes. I will group split the differenced model and it gives me 3 new objects.
Outer part of object
Edges parts of object
Inner part of object
Now I can can edit the topology of either the inner or outer object part- so long as I don’t mess with the polyflow of the very outside edges since that area needs to be same as it was before it was edited, so the new mesh can still combine against the others meshes edge points as it originally did.
This means I can get rid of excess polygons/ Like the “inner” poly object mesh for example.
I will be able to divide my model more times than I could if I just used the morph created difference option to thicken the mesh.
Ok so the next step to do after editing the topology of the inner object is to append it as a subtool back to the other two objects, and then select “Merge Visible”
All the parts are one again, and it looks like a solid object again- It also kept the polygroups, but it’s not a solid object yet. You have to export it as an obj file, mess around with the weld options in the import tool pallet in the tool section of the menu.
So What options do you select. I’m assuming it’s just moving the Weld Slider to 0.01. Do you also select the Merge points option or anything else?
When this is done, how can I be sure the model is welded into a completely solid object. I’m doing this with intentions to get Rapid Proto copies made, so the object has to be totally solid.
