Weirdness with GoZ and Maya

Hi,

I’m having some mixed results with GoZ. Sometimes it works great and sometimes all I get in Maya is a green see-thru cage, no texture, no anything. Here is my workflow:

  1. fill object with color

  2. paint on mesh

  3. lower res

  4. make GUV

  5. increase res

  6. new texture from Polypaint

  7. lower res

  8. create normal and/or displacement map

  9. Press goZ

I find the problem strange because I’ve gotten GoZ to work plenty of times. I just don’t seem to be able to troubleshoot why this happens on occasion. Any help would be appreciated.

When a mesh is giving you this issue check your Export Scale and Offsets. If this says nan that is your issue. The mesh does not have a scale or offset numbers anymore. they got lost during a GoZ session some how. You just have to put your scale and offset values in and you should be fine.

Let me know if this solves it. What version of Maya are you using?

Paul

Thanks:) Can you tell me where to set those settings you mentioned? Oh, I’m using Maya 2008 on Mac. Take care:)

I believe the reason for your Geometry showing up in Maya without shading network is the length of the name of your ZBrush (Sub)Tool

try to give it a short name - I think in the process of GoZ Maya is not able to handle long names (more than 15 digits?)

give it a try,
