Hi there, I’ve been coming to this forum for the past week every time I have a question trying to find an answer, I’m in an intensive two week class for learning the whole process of modeling in zbrush and animating in Maya, and we have some great guest teachers here, like the legendary Meats Meier. But I’ve come up with something that even he doesn’t know about–while using the lasso tool to select, I keep accidentally creating a weird situation where a thin red bounding box will appear on the screen with what looks like a spot of masking inside, and everything else in the screen turns white. It happens when I hold down shift+ctrl and click and drag, then release shift+ctrl before I release the mouse button, which creates the box. I can work around it, but I’m wondering if anyone could please tell me what the purpose of the tool is, and how I can get rid of it? Oh, and ‘clear mask’ does nothing, so I don’t know o.-
if you could post an image of the problem, that would probably get you better answers.
But in the mean time try going to the stencil menu, and turning the stencil off.
unfortunately with 3.1 they added a hotkey combo that is similar to the hiding/masking combos but what it does is draw a stencil, and thats what i believe you are doing, when you get the white screen go up to stencil and turn it off. hopefully they’ll get rid of this or make it a option in the future.
Oh yes, that’s it, thank you. Yes, it is rather annoying, I keep doing it on accident.
