Weird noise even on lowest SUB D

Hey all.

a colleage of mine is sculpting a high resolution peice of road for a macro zoom shot.

problem is theres seems to be an unltra high resolution amount of “noise” on the geometry regardless of subdivision level.

its almost as if theres a crappy jpeg mask on the whole thing, but that is NOT the case.

has anyone had this before?? and know what causes it, and a constructive suggestion on how to help fix it?

it looks like surface noise is turned on.
