web hosting question

Every body is usually very helpful when I post here so I thought I would ask this question here. I want to create my own website, something very simple just a front page, one for my resume and a couple of photo galleries for my portfolio work. I have been searching the net and have found many sites that take you through building a generic site (which is all I want for the time being) with templates and will host your site. They range from free sites to fairly expensive ones for the monthly hosting. My question is have any of you out there used this type of site to build your own and if so which ones do you recommend.

Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely, Thor

Hi.

To make a website, just download Macromedia Fireworks and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Both have 30 day trials.

As far as hosting, go to http://www.deasoft.com , they have hosting as cheap as $2 a month, and it comes with quite a bit of features.

Those templates are no good.

I am a webdesigner myself, so if you have a little cash to spare, I could build you a simple website for a small fee.

Try www.Ocatch.com they offer a fairly decent free package with a fairly easy to use web maker package…which by the way there are a zillion free ones…can’t remember the name of a pretty good one at the moment tho. They also use front page extensions. They used to allow pic linking too…believe they still do but it’s been awhile since I checked their free features list. They are stable, reliable and been around for years.

You can check out www.bravenet.com if ya like spam for a whole host of freebie stuff to easily add features to your site as well.

I had tried a zillion free sites a long time ago… 0catch seemed to be the best for the buck ($0) and I ended up paying for their cheapest service. No complaints so far other than my serious lack of time to update it hahaha.

I have hosting account with the following 2 and they are good.

http://www.ezoshosting.com/
http://www.dreamhost.com/

if you are dutch then
www.flexbwehosting.nl
and www.sohosted.com are ok.

Don’t fall into the trap of online site builders though… If you want something ready made i would just suggest installing a CMS and a Gallery there are many opensource products available.

I really like mambo but perhaps it is a bit to much for your needs
