way to disabling rotation in edit mode?

i find this really annoying when trying to move or adjust some vertices at the top of an object (or on the edge of an object; if i miss it by a pixel it rotates. can be very annoying.

just wondering if there is a way to map rotate to a keybind+LMB (eg. hold a key and left mouse click to rotate) or even just disabling it temporarily while i work on the model in its current rotation to the camera.

Fill the canvas (Ctrl+F) then redraw the model and re-enter Edit mode. To rotate/move/scale the model you will need to click off the canvas. To clear the background just hit Ctrl+N.
