Hi, my name is Alfred Carrillo. I love Zbrush. I’ve been hammering away at it, bought and study my Michael Pavlovich videos and here I am, submitting “War Turtle”.

My first 3D model ever. I’ve learned Zbrush, 3DS Max, Substance Painter and several other programs while working on this guy. He has some minor flaws, but I display them proudly and wear them like battle scars. You’ll see some UV stretching, crappy painting, everything.

I could’ve fixed everything, but I wanted to keep it real and this guy serves as a starting point, a marker of where I started. I mean, I did NOT know WHAT I was doing, when I started. The model is one giant sculpt, meaning, there are no subtools. I didn’t know you could split everything up into subtools, so getting into those cracks and crevices, especially in between the shell and neck and back of the legs, was a total nightmare.

Luckily though, I discovered Michael Pavlovich in November and begged my wife to let me buy all his videos for a Christmas present for myself. So I’ve been practicing since then. And on the 3ds Max side, Arrimus 3D on Youtube was also a Godsend. I owe a lot to those two guys, they are great teachers. I am still learning a lot.

Anyways, I’m sorry for all the blah, blah, blah, but that’s my intro. Glad to be part of such a great community.
