Wallpaper Image plane

This is a new wallpaper I made for mywifes computer. It is made from a 3d plane in Z . The plane has 4194304 polys I used a painting turned into an alpha and applied in projection master. then turned the same painting into a texture for the color. Not too original but turned out cool so I thought I would post it.

I can’t beleive this i’ve posted to this forum 4 times been replied to once. I don’t know if i’m not good enough for all of you or what. But I can guarantee you will see me again.

Go for it!!

mnmava…nice pic. Don’t worry too much about replies, they’ll come. This is a nice start with Z.

I think sometimes we need to keep in mind that this forum crosses the world, which means a heck of a lot of time zones. Sometimes, not many are awake, or may be working. We have all posted something one time or another that didn’t get responses, or ones as quick as we would have liked. Believe me, it’s not a reflection of your talent or the people here.

Keep posting and createing. Speaking for myself, I’ll keep watching.

Word.

mnmave, ive posted a few times too and didnt get the most responses , i was thinking the same as wordsmith a nd guessed itd be time zone difference but i still like to co ntribute anyways regardless if i get request or not…but yeah your picture looks good, its a painting i would choose to hang up on my wall. keep up the good work.

sailightingtrial.jpg Sorry about sounding like such an a**hole but I’m trying to learn as much as possible and the best way ive found to learn is by crits from ones peers. Anyway enough about that. Here is another post playingwith lights to make these sighs look real. Not sure about the spelling there.

Hehe, for me this forum-thing is still a bit new. I posted my first picture months ago and it got only one reply. But that picture wasn’t original (another head), finished or very beautifull, so I could understand. One day I will stop doodling and make something good in Zbrush, and than I know this great community will reply with advice or crits.
You’re first picture on the other hand is very nice, and original. It looks very much like a quilted tapistry. If you are trying for realism in the second pic: the metal looks a bit soft to me… perhaps a sharper specular and more detail on the swords (or ‘sighs’?) would help.

Keep posting!

You don’t need to always use PM to create such effects - just droping a high res plane to the canvas and using an alpha/depth image set to DragRect stroke is also a good way of acheving the same effect with greater ease.

Nice to see some experimentation taking place.

I’ve been getting great results by applying my paintings as a texture to a 2.5D canvas created in ZBrush. It has the added avantage of being able to rework the image with all of ZBrush’s tools.

A good way to achieve more realism to metals is by adding complexity through the reflection. Also some imperfections added through a bump map. I also agree that a little more specularity is needed. Reflection is what realy brings metals to life though.

I’ve learned that the best time to get responses is on weekdays after noon EST. Seems to be one of the busiest times.

You will note that sooner or later, everybody drops by!!!
