Wall Thickness and 3D Printing

I’m new to 3D work so I may be missing something obvious but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to make my sculpt hollow for the purpose of 3D printing. I thought I would be able to use dynamesh, hold alt while inserting sphere, clear mask and then use create shell. But then when I mask and change visibility to get a cross section, it looks like the wall itself is hollow. Won’t this method also leave a hole as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to leave a hole. The shell can’t just be hollow it needs a physical hole. The hole can be very very small as long as it’s there. If you don’t the 3d print will fill it in.

But when I’ve created a shell should the shell itself appear hollow when I do a cross-section?
