I was wondering if you guys could plz tell me where an environment artist should focus on learning in Zbrush. I know normal mapping is an important aspect but I wanted to know what else I should learn in this powerful app.
Thanks!

you should focus on inorganics and organic modeling within Zbrush. How to append subtools and project meshes together. How to use Zmapper isn’t really a must, but is very helpful.
If you’re modeling and texturing environments then you will most likely be using Zbrush for detailing, not nessicarily for sculpting from the ground up.
Zbrush is such a diverse program that you can really use it to either change your workflow all together, or you can use it to enhance your workflow.
for the environment artist I recommend using zbrush for detail work and anything organic in your environment…things like trees, ground models and textures, those gross organic walls and such from games now a days. Getting those hard ridged edges that most environments have/need are difficult and more time consuming in Zbrush than in a traditional modeling app.
Basically, find out what you want to do, and where Zbrush can make you faster. I mean, if it looks 3x better but takes you 20x longer, is it really worth it?
